Referring a client for residential treatment is a significant clinical decision. We approach each referral collaboratively, with careful consideration of clinical need, safety and the most appropriate level of care.

Clinical Referral

When Residential Treatment May Be Appropriate

Residential treatment may be appropriate when a person's clinical needs, substance-use risks, co-occurring psychiatric or medical needs, previous response to treatment, or recovery environment indicate that outpatient treatment alone is unlikely to provide sufficient structure or support.

Some patients may also require medically supervised withdrawal management before or alongside ongoing addiction treatment.

Level-of-care decisions should be individualised, and our clinical team is available to discuss whether residential treatment is appropriate for a particular patient.

Clinical Model

Our Clinical Model, In Brief

Treatment follows a Bio-Psycho-Social-Spiritual framework, delivered by a multidisciplinary team including a Consultant Psychiatrist, general medical oversight, and focal therapists managing individualised treatment plans.

Relapse prevention is delivered through the Gorski-CENAPS model. Samarpan holds CARF accreditation, with recurring external review of clinical protocols, safety systems, and standards of care, not a one-time certification.

Referring Information

What We Need From You When Referring

A referral is most useful to us when it includes relevant psychiatric and medical history, current medications and dosages, prior treatment attempts and their outcomes, and your own clinical impression of what's driving the current presentation. We're glad to discuss a case by phone before anything is formalised in writing.

The Referral Process

What Happens After Referral

01 / ASSESS

Pre-Admission Assessment

Following referral, our clinical team conducts a pre-admission assessment, typically by phone or video, to confirm appropriateness for residential treatment and begin building an initial treatment plan.

02 / ADMIT

Admission and Clinical Oversight

Admission itself is overseen by our Consultant Psychiatrist, with medical and safety protocols in place from the point of arrival.

03 / REFINE

Full In-Person Assessment

A full in-person clinical assessment follows, refining the treatment plan based on direct clinical observation rather than the remote picture alone.

Continuity of Care

Working With Referring Professionals

Where the client has provided appropriate consent, we aim to maintain clinically useful communication with referring professionals throughout treatment. This may include confirmation of admission, relevant treatment updates, participation in care planning where appropriate, and coordination of discharge and continuing care.

Where clinically appropriate, our goal is to support continuity with the client's existing psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist or other treating professional rather than unnecessarily replace established therapeutic relationships.

Referral

How to Make a Referral

Referrals can be made directly by phone, followed by written clinical information once initial appropriateness has been discussed. There's no separate portal or form required before that initial conversation.
